Sharing a Snippets Palette
In Maple you can create your own palette, as described in Creating a Snippets Palette. You can then distribute the palette to other Maple users, such as students or colleagues. This is also useful to have access to the same custom palette on two different computers.
To share a custom palette:
1.
Locate the MPALETTE file that corresponds to your palette. By default, this file's location is:
•
On Windows, C:\Users\userid\AppData\Roaming\Maple\Maple_version (Windows 7 and Windows Vista) or C:\Documents and Settings\userid\Application Data\Maple\Maple_version (Windows XP)
•
On UNIX, $HOME/.maple/Maple_version/
•
On Macintosh, $HOME/Library/Preferences/Maple/Maple_version/
where userid is your user name and Maple_version is the version number, for instance, 16.
2.
Locate the HDB file(s) that contain the tasks and icons used in your palette. By default, this is:
•
On Windows, C:\Users\userid\AppData\Roaming\Maple\Maple_version\tasks.hdb (Windows 7 and Windows Vista) or C:\Documents and Settings\userid\Application Data\Maple\Maple_version\tasks.hdb (Windows XP)
•
On UNIX, $HOME/.maple/Maple_version/tasks.hdb
•
On Macintosh, $HOME/Library/Preferences/Maple/Maple_version/tasks.hdb
3.
Send these files to the users.
4.
The users must place a copy of the MPALETTE file in the corresponding location on their computer (see step 1). The users must place the HDB file(s) in that location, or, althernatively, in one of the paths in their libname.
The HDB files can be renamed, but not the MPALETTE file.
