Dot Product (Projection)
Main Concept
Given two vectors and , their dot product is the scalar quantity
where θ is the angle between and .
The dot product can also be expressed in terms of the components of and as follows:
The unit vector in the direction of is given by
The vector projection of on is the orthogonal projection of onto the line in the direction of :
The scalar projection of on is the length of the associated vector projection.
