Use the Matrix Palette

 The Matrix palette contains a dialog for entering Matrices and Vectors.
 1 Display the Matrix palette. See Show Palettes.
 2 Enter the number of rows and columns you require. For a preview, click Choose.
 3 Select the Type of Matrix (for example, Zero-filled).
 4 Select the Shape of the Matrix (for example, Diagonal).
 5 Select the Data type of the Matrix (for example, float[8]).
 6 Click Insert Matrix to insert the Maple command in the worksheet. Depending on the number of rows or columns selected, the Insert button displays Insert Matrix, Insert Vector[row], or Insert Vector[column].
 • In Maple Notation (1-D math) mode, the Maple command is displayed in the worksheet. Press the Enter key to generate the Matrix or Vector.
 • In 2-D math mode, the generated Matrix or Vector is displayed.

Shortcuts

 You can increase the size of a Matrix, Vector, or piecewise function using either keyboard shortcuts or the context-sensitive menu.

Add a new row by doing any of the following:

 • Place the cursor in an element and then press Ctrl+Shift+R (Command+Shift+R for Mac).  A new row is inserted below the cursor.
 • Right-click (Control-click for Mac) on an element and then select Insert Row Above or Insert Row Below.

Add a new column by doing any of the following:

 • Place the cursor in an element and then press Ctrl+Shift+C (Command+Shift+C for Mac).  A new column is inserted after the cursor.
 • Right-click (Control-click for Mac) on an element and then select Insert Column to the Left or Insert Column to the Right.
