MapleCloud

Enhanced Mathematics

Improvements to Computation and Efficiency

Extended Connectivity

User Interface Improvements

Powerful Graphics

MapleCloud

•

Provides information sharing and content storage

•

For more information, see Graphical User Interface Updates.

Enhanced Mathematics

•

New functions for linearization and finding equilibrium points for control system design, plus additional linear systems tools, such as Nyquist plots.

•

New functionality in PDE solving to compute exact solutions to PDEs subject to boundary conditions and series solutions to PDE systems.  Additional PDE tools include a unified solver that can also compute solutions independent of specified variables and another to compute symmetry-invariant equations.

•

A new numerical differential equations solver, the Cash-Karp pair, is available for solving non-stiff ODEs and DAEs.

•

New methods for solving 2nd order nonlinear ODEs that have no point symmetries and to solve ODE initial value problems formerly out of reach.

•

A new differential algebra package, running faster directly in C, for working with systems of polynomial differential equations.

•

More tools for root finding, solving Riccati equations, and polynomial solving

•

Other improvements in many areas of mathematics, including linear algebra, PSLQ over complex numbers, Groebner bases, and number theory.

•

For more information, see New and Enhanced Packages, Differential Equations, Efficiency, Numerics, and Symbolics.

Improvements to Computation and Efficiency

•

Performance improvements: improved speed and efficiency in solve, Int, Limit, etc.

•

Added GPU support for NVIDIA's CUDA technology

•

New algorithms in graph theory as well as faster implementations of matrix multiplication and polynomial arithmetic.

•

For more information, see Efficiency.

Extended Connectivity

•

Extended connectivity to MATLAB®.  The Maple Toolbox is now included as part of Maple.  Enhanced integration with MATLAB® provides direct access to all the commands, variables, and functions of each product while working in either environment.

•

In addition, Maple supports the importing and exporting of Version 6 and Version 7 MATLAB® binary files.

•

Data import expansion: .xlsx support, improvements to the Data Import Assistant, and access to Excel import via Maplets.

•

Users of the NAG® library now have seamless access to the full functionality offered by the NAG C Library from within Maple.  Formerly available as a separate toolbox, this functionality is now provided with Maple itself.

•

For more information, see Programming and Connectivity and Graphical User Interface Updates.

User Interface Improvements

•

Usability improvements: table captions, numbering, and cross-reference

•

Ten new task templates in Multivariate Calculus and Linear Algebra.

•

For more information, see Graphical User Interface Updates.

Powerful Graphics

•

Improved options for plotting in 2-D of functions with discontinuities.

•

The enhanced point probe tool lets you investigate 2-D plots with options to see the nearest point on the line, the nearest datum, or the current cursor location.

•

For more information, see Graphics Improvements.
