plottools

 ellipticArc
generate 2-D plot object for an elliptic arc

 Calling Sequence ellipticArc(c, a, b, r, opts)

Parameters

c - center of the ellipticArc a - major of the ellipticArc b - minor of the ellipticArc r - range of the arc in radians opts - zero or more options as described below and in plot/options

Options

 • filled : true or false
Specifies whether to fill the inside of the arc. The default is false.
 • numpoints : positive integer
Specifies the number of points to evaluate. The default is 50.
 • super = positive real or list of two positive reals
Specifies that a (generalized) superelliptic arc should be created. See plottools[ellipse] for more details on generalized superellipses.

Description

 • The ellipticArc command creates a two-dimensional plot data object, which when displayed is an elliptic arc of an ellipse centered at c with major a and minor b.  The arc ranges in r.
 • The plot data object produced by the ellipticArc command can be used in a PLOT data structure, or displayed using the plots[display] command.
 • Remaining arguments are interpreted as options, which are specified as equations of the form option = value. For more information, see plottools and plot/options.

Examples

 > $\mathrm{with}\left(\mathrm{plottools}\right):$
 > $\mathrm{with}\left(\mathrm{plots}\right):$
 > $c≔\mathrm{ellipticArc}\left(\left[1,1\right],2,3,0..\frac{3\mathrm{\pi }}{4}\right):$
 > $d≔\mathrm{ellipticArc}\left(\left[0,0\right],3,4,\frac{3\mathrm{\pi }}{4}..2\mathrm{\pi },\mathrm{filled}=\mathrm{true},\mathrm{color}=\mathrm{green}\right):$
 > $\mathrm{display}\left(c,d,\mathrm{scaling}=\mathrm{constrained}\right)$
 > $\mathrm{display}\left(\mathrm{ellipticArc}\left(\left[0,0\right],2,1,0..\mathrm{\pi },\mathrm{super}=\frac{2}{3}\right),\mathrm{ellipticArc}\left(\left[0,0\right],2,1,\mathrm{\pi }..2\mathrm{\pi },\mathrm{super}=\frac{3}{2}\right),\mathrm{scaling}=\mathrm{constrained}\right)$

Compatibility

 • The plottools[ellipticArc] command was updated in Maple 2019.
 • The super option was introduced in Maple 2019.
