GroupTheory

 TitsGroup
 construct a permutation group isomorphic to the Tits group

 Calling Sequence TitsGroup()

Description

 • The Tits group is often considered a sporadic finite simple group. It is the derived subgroup of the twisted Chevalley group ${}^{2}F_{4}\left(2\right)$. The Tits group itself is not a group of Lie type, and in fact it has sometimes been considered to be a sporadic group.
 • The TitsGroup() command returns a permutation group isomorphic to the Tits group.
 • In the Standard Worksheet interface, you can insert this group into a document or worksheet by using the Group Constructors palette.

Examples

 > $\mathrm{with}\left(\mathrm{GroupTheory}\right):$
 > $G≔\mathrm{TitsGroup}\left(\right)$
 ${G}{≔}{T}$ (1)
 > $\mathrm{Degree}\left(G\right)$
 ${1600}$ (2)
 > $\mathrm{GroupOrder}\left(G\right)$
 ${17971200}$ (3)
 > $\mathrm{IsSimple}\left(G\right)$
 ${\mathrm{true}}$ (4)

Compatibility

 • The GroupTheory[TitsGroup] command was introduced in Maple 17.
