 Calling Sequence ratio(C, x)

Parameters

C - set of linear equations x - variable to be used in calculating ratios

Description

 • The call ratio(C, x) returns a list of ratios which can be used to determine which equation in C is most restrictive with respect to the next simplex pivot.  For each equation, the ratio computed, if possible, is

$-\frac{\mathrm{cterm}\left(\mathrm{eq}\right)}{\mathrm{coeff}\left(\mathrm{eq},x,1\right)}$

 • All negative ratios are reported as infinity, as are those for which the denominator is 0.
 • The equations C are in the special form produced by simplex[setup].
 • The command with(simplex, ratio) allows the use of the abbreviated form of this command.

Examples

 > $\mathrm{with}\left(\mathrm{simplex}\right):$
 > $\mathrm{ratio}\left(\left[\mathrm{_SL1}=5-4x-3y,\mathrm{_SL2}=4-3x-4y\right],x\right)$
 $\left[\frac{{5}}{{4}}{,}\frac{{4}}{{3}}\right]$ (1)
