Formatting Lists: Bullets, Numbers, Indent
Bullets, numbered lists, and indented lists provide an easy way to organize information in your worksheet.
Using the Defined Styles
Using the Paragraph Attributes Dialog
In the Edit tab of the ribbon, the Bulleted list and Numbered list buttons as well as the Style drop-down list can be used to format a list using predefined paragraph styles. For general information on the Style drop-down list, see Applying Paragraph Styles.
Bulleted Lists
To arrange content in a bulleted list using the button:
Select the text to be arranged.
In the Edit tab, in the Paragraph group, click Bulleted list ( ). The selected text is displayed as a bulleted list.
To arrange content in a bulleted list using drop-down Style list:
From the character and paragraph style drop-down list, select P Bullet Item. The selected text is displayed as a bulleted list.
Note there is also a Dash Item entry to display a dash beside each list item.
Numbered Lists
A simple numbered list can be entered using the Numbered list button. For more controls, use the Styles.
To arrange content in a numbered list using the button:
In the Edit tab, in the Paragraph group, click Numbered list ( ). The selected text is displayed as a numbered list.
To arrange content in a numbered list using the drop-down Style list:
From the character and paragraph style drop-down list, select P Ordered List. The selected text is displayed as a numbered list.
Ordered lists have 5 default styles.
List 1 begins at the left margin. Subsequent lists are indented half an inch.
The numbering style uses numbers, followed by lowercase letters, then lowercase roman numerals, uppercase letters, and uppercase Roman numerals.

By specifying paragraph attributes, you can have the most control over the display. You can select various list styles: Dot, Dash, Indent, Numbers, Lowercase Letters, Uppercase Letters, Lowercase Roman Numerals, and Uppercase Roman Numerals.
To arrange content in a list using the paragraph attributes:
In the Edit tab, in the Paragraph group, click Attributes ( ) The Paragraph Style dialog opens.
Under Indent, specify the indent from the left margin.
From the Bullet and Numbering drop-down list, select one of the styles.
If you have selected one of the numbered styles (number, letters, Roman numerals), set an initial list value.
To continue numbering this list from a previous list in your worksheet, select the Linked to Previous List check box.
To restart numbering, clear the Linked to Previous List check box.
Click OK to accept this style.
