The Mathematics Survival Kit-Maple Edition
- This Maple-Based E-Book is the Essential Companion
to Any College or High School Math Course. Based
on the popular book “The Mathematics Survival Kit”
written by award-winning teacher Jack Weiner, this new ebook
provides students with quick, concise and friendly five-minute
reviews of 115 mathematical concepts, allowing them to navigate
through challenging homework assignments with greater ease.
By combining standard first-year university calculus and
algebra curricula and high school course outlines with his
30 years of teaching experience, Weiner identifies those
topics that both university and high school students find
most problematic. He also offers two great strategies—“How
to Get an A in Math” and “How to Get Extra Help”
—for tackling those concepts in a step-by-step fashion.

Maplesoft
Engineering Toolkits - The new Engineering
Toolkits from Maplesoft are suites of analytical design
tools that offer a combination of powerful mathematical
solvers with domain-specific functions that target your
particular application.
Based on the power of Maple, the components in each of these
Toolkits have been carefully selected and validated by domain
experts to ensure you arrive at the best solutions for your
engineering design tasks, rapidly, without error, and at
the right price!

Maple Toolbox for MATLAB Beta Testing Ends
The Maple Toolbox for MATLAB beta testing ended last week.
We would like to thank everyone who participated. The purpose
of the public beta was to gather customer feedback on this
toolbox, so that we can improve the product and ensure it
meets our customers' needs. The toolbox will be available
for purchase mid September.

August
30th, 2006 - Surviving Math Education
Professor
Jack Weiner (University of Guelph) joins us at the Maplesoft
headquarters to discuss the Maple e-book version of his
popular "Mathematics Survival Kit", his thoughts
about what makes a great math teacher, and the role of technology
in teaching and learning. Eithne Murray is back with an
inside look into the world of Maple T.A, Maplesoft's Web-based
system for large-scale, automated testing and assessment
of math students. Of course, we also have some more current
news and mailbag questions.
August
16th, 2006 - Business of Math
In this episode Tom Lee interviews Dr.
Paul Bragg (via telephone from Letchworth, England)
about the future of scientific software, the differences
between North American and European software markets, and
his thoughts about choosing a sales over a scientific career.
Paul DeMarco, a senior product manager and architect, joins
us to discuss an exciting new product called the Maple Toolbox
for MATLAB; and of course, we have some more news and mail
for you.

Maple Primes Community Site Update
MaplePrimes,
is a great place to learn new ways to use Maple. New
techniques for using Maple are regularly posted to
the site. For example, TomM
posted a blog
entry about how to use Maple to show students
in a classroom the steps needed to solve a problem.
From the other end of the spectrum, jenni,
a high school student wanted to know how
to use Maple to see all of the steps necessary
to solve a problem. In response, several different
solutions
were posted. If you want to learn more ways to use
Maple, visit MaplePrimes
to see what is there to help you..
