Webinar with NASA Tech briefs: This webinar introduces new techniques and case studies for efficiently increasing the fidelity of system models for UGV, UAV, and USV design. With the growing importance of autonomous vehicles for safety, space, medical, industrial, and defense applications, engineers are turning to greater use of high fidelity models to accelerate design time, reduce costly design errors, and ultimately improve functional performance of the vehicles.
New generations of modeling tools are now emerging to replace an aging modeling tool chain that is struggling to meet the needs of demanding technical challenges such as multi-domain systems, HIL simulations, and rapid prototyping. One example is MapleSim which is based on a symbolic model formulation paradigm which is gaining strong interest for its ability to reduce model development time while simultaneously improving model performance.
The speakers for the webinar include Dr. Tom Lee, Vice President of Applications Engineering at Maplesoft, and Ryan Gariepy, CTO of Clearpath Robotics, producers of various flexible unmanned vehicle platforms for rapid prototyping applications.
This webinar will be an engaging combination of technical concepts and case studies.

This webinar introduces new modeling techniques to accelerate model development while increasing model fidelity and simulation performance. Driven by the needs of the consumer auto industry, “symbolic computation” based physical model development has broken through some key barriers in hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing. For example, full vehicle models for dynamics, multi-domain models of HEV powertrains, and detailed dynamic models of special subsystems, such as crane arms, are challenging the traditional engineering workflow. Through a presentation of fundamental concepts, technique demonstrations, and numerous case studies, you will gain practical knowledge on quickly improving or implementing model-based design (MBD) techniques. | |

WAVE Stereo Cryptosteganography
Author: Prof. Czeslaw Koscielny
All contemporary cryptographic algorithms generate cryptogram files containing almost random sequences of characters, making these files easy to identify. This application allows Maple users to protect files sa against modification, damage and unauthorized access, generating cryptosteganograms which are regular PCM and ADPCM stereo WAVE files. |

Humanoid Robots Learn to Walk Faster
Scientific Computing World, March 21, 2011
Extract: One of the challenges facing the Manchester team, lead by Martin Brown and Gustavo Medrano-Cerda, is visualizing experiments quickly and effectively, to avoid slowing down the process and to ensure that experimentation is valid and relevant. “The ability to visualize in MapleSim, without having to write our own programs, has been invaluable,” says Ph.D. student Houman Dallali. “What's more, we can directly generate C++ code to interface with the hardware and speed up the controller implementation/debugging process.” |

MapleSim di Maplesoft crea modelli fisici di batterie per veicoli ibridi ed elettrici
ilB2B.it (Italy) – Feb 21, 2011
One of the most important components of a hybrid-electric or fully electric vehicle is the battery itself. Having a good virtual model of the battery is essential so that both battery behavior and the physical interaction of the battery with all the other components are properly reflected in the model. A team developing high-fidelity models chose MapleSim because of the symbolic approach in MapleSim.

MapleSim et Maple sont utilisés par le laboratoire ARM de l´Université d´Etat de Buffalo
CAO.fr (France), March 17, 2011
One of the ARM lab’s research projects involved the study of kinematic and dynamic simulations of 6 degree of freedom 6-Prismatic-Universal-Spherical (6-P-U-S) type manipulators. This type of manipulator combines a platform that moves and a fixed base, interconnected by several legs. In his research, Dr. Venkat Krovi and his research team analyzed a general 6 DOF 6-P-U-S manipulator. They used Maple and MapleSim to automatically generate the governing equations, and conducted a kinematic analysis of those equations with Maple. |
