Sponsors MAA Project NExT Fellow Maplesoft
is sponsoring the Mathematical Association of America (MAA)
Project NExT (New Experiences in Teaching), a professional
development program for new or recent PhDs in the mathematical
sciences. This highly successful program for college and
university professors is now in its 13th year and has helped
more than 800 alumni. Maplesoft’s support will aid
the professional development of Jonathan Rogness, PhD, a
visiting assistant professor with the University of Minnesota’s
School of Mathematics and Institute of Technology Center
for Educational Programs (ITCEP). This sponsorship continues
the collaboration between the MAA and Maplesoft. Other initiatives
between the Maplesoft and the MAA include the Maplesoft-MAA

Power Math for Power
Circuits - How Maple’s 3D capabilities helped
solve the mystery of gate resistance on shoot through.
Desktop Engineering,
October 2006
Alan Elbanhawy, a director at Fairchild Semiconductor
International, used Maple to study and understand
physical phenomena such as metal-oxide-semiconductor
field-effect transistor (MOSFET) switching in power
circuits. They examined the effects of lumped and
distributed gate resistance on the phenomenon of
shoot through (also known as cross conduction) in
synchronous buck.

Three New Leaves, Review by Felix Grant
“Many things can be done faster, more intuitively,
more productively and more enjoyably….Using nVizx
is like being given a lump of infinitely elastic clay
and an infinite space in which to play…As is usual,
Maple seeks to combine the best features from different
methods into a compound approach for dealing with literally
thousands of variables and constraints.” |
