Stacking Patterns for Boxes within a Volume
https://www.maplesoft.com/applications/view.aspx?SID=5632&ref=Feed
The model calculates potential loading patterns of boxes within a volume (a larger box). It places the boxes within a given orderly pattern for the main filling of the volume. It then tries to place more boxes in the remaining open spaces. More boxes may be manually added by the user if sufficient free space remains after the automated filling process. Several orientations are tested. The model calculates potential loading patterns of boxes within a volume (a larger box). The worksheet implements algorithms from "Applied Dimensional Analysis and Modeling" by Thomas Szirtes for determining the feasible Pi groups for describing a physical system. Several examples are included to demonstate the technique. The worksheet implements algorithms from "Applied Dimensional Analysis and Modeling" by Thomas Szirtes for determining the feasible Pi groups for describing a physical system. https://www.maplesoft.com/applications/view.aspx?SID=1352&ref=Feed
The task of this application is to synthesize chemical plant flowsheets to make specified products. The method requires a toolkit of information about the synthesis problem. The toolkit includes: a set of available raw materials, a set of required products, by-product specifications, and a set of unit operation functions that convert inlet materials into outlet materialsThe task of this application is to synthesize chemical plant flowsheets to make specified products. https://www.maplesoft.com/applications/view.aspx?SID=4283&ref=Feed
This application combines the power of residue curve maps (RCMs) and combinatorial analysis for the synthesis of separation systems for ternary mixtures. RCMs provide knowledge of feasible distillation separations. The skilled engineer can interpret the RCM to define distillation towers and related unit operations for separating azeotropic mixtures. Combinatorial analysis is combined with the unit operation definitions to handle the synthesis task. The MSG algorithm determines when a feasible flowsheet superstructure (maximal structure) has been established. The SSG algorithm then extracts all of the feasible flowsheets from the maximal structure.

https://www.maplesoft.com/applications/view.aspx?SID=4282&ref=Feed
The task is to determine how many balls will fit into a given size box during the random filling of the box. This Maple document first calculates estimates to establish a lower and upper bound on the solution. Then, a stochastic model is programmed to randomly place balls into the box.

https://www.maplesoft.com/applications/view.aspx?SID=3715&ref=Feed
Pinch analysis is a well established synthesis and analysis tool for the exchange of heat within a network of heat exchangers. Some of its capabilities are: setting pre-design targets for utility consumption, setting a pre-design target for the installed cost of the heat exchanger network, designing the heat exchanger network, optimizing the trade-off between energy costs and capital cost, optimizing the selection of utility sources
